A Trip to the Park
We packed up the kids and a lunch and headed for a walk to the park. It was our first venture to check out this playground....and I wish it was made for toddlers instead of big ol' kids. Brianne had no fear of the slide - she came flying down it only to say "more" with a big ol' smile. She is one brave girl! And yes - in this video there is a bit of a collision of her forehead with the camera....but that didn't stop her from circling around to try it again...Saw this sign after the slide incident...guess we have some time to grow into this park... |
Goal: Find a Toddler Friendly Playground!
Is it that everything has to be bigger in Texas? Is that why all these playgrounds have crazy drop-offs? Where are the playgrounds that don't cause panic attacks for the parents??? Anyone in Fort Worth have insight to the good playgrounds for little ones??? :) When we were in Florida we found amazing playgrounds that were fenced in and had tons of things for the little kids....wish I could find one of those near me since the weather has had some pretty fantastic days but there's no way i'm taking my dynamic duo to one of these Texas sized playgrounds without backup! We did find an amazing Playscape at The Hills Church of Christ. They post open play hours on their website...so we stopped by on a rainy afternoon. It can be summarized as an amazing play area....but again - my kiddos have a bit of growing to do before they will be scampering up and down this...but this has serious potential for fun, especially in the summer when you want to be inside to avoid the crazy heat!
Play Time at Home
The Christmas holiday was a great excuse to revamp the kids toy selection at the house....we had lots of infant/baby toys cluttering up the living room - so we've tried to clear those out and bring out some new puzzles and such. I am in LOVE with 'Melissa & Doug' toys - and since I found them 40% off I stocked up on quite a few. My favorite so far is the reusable sticker set...the kids love arranging the animals in the jungle and under the sea. And when Brianne used sign language for 'octopus' I couldn't help but laugh, be impressed, and make a mental note that she might watch a bit too much Signing Times....but hey - she's learning tons from it so it can't be that bad....right?!Another new favorite - the Magna Doodle! I had to smile when I found a special note the kids left (maybe with a little help from dad).
BOXES
While 'Melissa and Doug' toys get my vote - the kids still rate boxes at the top of their list. The first box that had been camping out since Thanksgiving finally had to be retired - but we enjoyed coloring on it before recycling it.Coming apart at the seams... |
Hey mom - it's still a perfectly good box |
But don't worry - there have been a few replacement boxes making guest appearances.
The kids loved having Aunt Ashleigh and Will here for a visit last weekend - hope to get some great pics posted soon........stay tuned!
